Originally built by Raja Jumaat in 1847, the fort serves as a vantage point for him to oversee his tin mining business and community. Lukut fort remains as one of today's best reserved Bugis fort in the country. Situated approximately 10 minutes from PD town centre, visitors need to climb a series of steps to check out the wells and small moat. The once impressive fort now serves as a tourist attraction or for recreational purposes only.
